Mind control is and has always been an issue that most of us find interesting. The fascination of some people's ability to control other people's minds has been documented in the literature, dramatic arts as well as the movies as long as these media have been around.

Why are we so fascinated about this mind control aspect? Maybe this show up of the contrast between human potential as well as shortcomings make us realize who are versus who we really want to be. Examples of mind control shows can be hypnosis shows, magic shows etc.

So, what is mind control actually? Mind control is the suggestion by some that a person's thinking can be manipulated by outside sources. The extent of another's influence on the mind has been debated by scientists, but the possibility of influencing an individual by methods such as propaganda and advertising have been well documented by psychologists.

Some authors suggest that the idea of mind control is in the very foundations of social structures like religions, political organizations, and social groupings. They demonstrate how ideas such as ‘truth' and ‘good versus evil' can be used to control people's behaviour, or even divide them amongst themselves.

Many people believe that during the cold war, both sides experimented with mind control, both through hypnosis and drugs such as LSD, with some effects. They also believe that companies use subliminal advertising, which is supposed to be able to influence people to make purchases, though this is not proven to work. .

Despite its many negative connotations, it is possible to use mind control in a positive way. You can practise this form of mind control upon yourself, though affirmation. This is a form of autosuggestion, where a statement of positive feelings, or of a desirable outcome to something, is deliberately concentrated upon. It is a summoning of one's inner resources, and affirmation can be a powerful way of reprogramming the mind.

The affirmation is a mind control vehicle which means that you can visualise order and a new sense of direction, and also allow yourself to let go of any negative emotions. People who perform affirmation every day usually feel that they are able to be more successful, and are more goal driven. Any problems from the past are resolved, and they can turn towards the future with optimism. There are now some websites where you can be given daily affirmations.
