The ways in which this energy is used, modified, or manipulated to effect healing also vary. For example, acupressure involves manual stimulation of pressure-points, while some forms of yoga rely on breathing exercises. Many therapies, in regards to the given explanation for their supposed efficacy, are predicated on some form of energy unknown to current science. In this case, the given energy is sometimes referred to as putative energy.

However “subtle energy” is often equated with empirically understood forces, for example, some equate the aura with electromagnetism. Such energies are termed “veritable” as opposed to “putative”. Some alternative therapies, such as electromagnetic therapy, use veritable energy, though they may still make claims that are not supported by evidence. Many claims have been made by associating “spirit” with forms of energy poorly understood at the time. In the 1800s, electricity and magnetism were in the “borderlands” of science and electrical quackery was rife. In the 2000s, quantum mechanics and grand unification theory provide similar opportunities.

Insofar as the proposed properties of “subtle energy” are not those of physical energy, there can be no physical scientific evidence for the existence of such “energy”. Therapies that purport to use, modify, or manipulate unknown energies are therefore among the most controversial of all complementary and alternative medicines.

Theories of spiritual energy not validated by the scientific method are usually termed non-empirical beliefs by the scientific community. Claims related to energy therapies are most often anecdotal, rather than being based on repeatable empirical evidence.

Some acupuncturists say that acupuncture’s mode of action is by virtue of manipulating the natural flow of energy through hypothesized meridians. Scientists argue that any palliative effects are obtained physiologically by blocking or stimulating nerve cells and causing changes in the perception of pain in the brain. However, this theory fails to account for the specificity of the locus of successful intervention. The gap between the empirically proven efficacy of some therapies and the lack of empirical physical evidence for the belief-systems that surround them is at present a battleground between skeptics and believers.

Vitalism and spirituality in the age of electricity

The successes of the era of the Enlightenment in the treatment of energy in natural science was intimately bound up with attempts to study the energies of life, as when Luigi Galvani’s neurological investigations led to the development of the Voltaic cell. Many scientists continued to think that living organisms must be constituted of special materials subject to special forces – a view which became known as vitalism. Mesmer, for example, sought an animal magnetism that was unique to life.

As microbiologists studied embryology and developmental biology, particularly before the discovery of the genes, a variety of organisational forces were posited to account for the observations. From the time of Driesch, however, the importance of “energy-fields” began to wane and the proposed forces became more mind-like. Sometimes, however, as in the work of Harold Saxton Burr, the electromagnetic fields of organisms have been studied precisely as the hypothetical medium of such organisational “forces”.

The attempt to associate additional energetic properties with life has been all but abandoned in modern research science, but, despite this, spiritual writers and thinkers have maintained connections to these ideas and continue to promote them either as useful allegories or as fact.

Some early advocates of these ideas were particularly attracted to the history of the unification of electromagnetism and its implications for the storage, transference, and conversion of physical energy through electric and magnetic fields. Potentials and fields were viewed after the work of James Clerk Maxwell as physical phenomena rather than mathematical abstractions. Aware of this history, spiritual writers positivistically adopted much of the language of physical science, speaking of “force fields” and “biological energy”. Concepts such as the “life force”, “physiological gradient”, and “élan vital” that emerged from the spiritualist movement would inspire later thinkers in the modern New Age movement.

* Vitalism – Johannes Reinke, Entelechy of Driesch

* Élan vital of Henri Bergson

* Recapitulation theory of Ernst Haeckel

* Morphic field of biologist Rupert Sheldrake

* L-field of Harold Saxton Burr

* Kirlian Photography of Semyon Davidovich Kirlian – The Body Electric

* Odic force of chemist Carl von Reichenbach

* Psychoenergetics of Professor William A. There is no scientific evidence for these so, to the extent that acupuncture is regarded as efficacious in western medicine, its effects are usually described as palliative and obtained physiologically by blocking or stimulating nerve cells and causing changes in the perception of pain in the brain. However the idea of qi is not confined to medicine, as it appears throughout traditional east Asian culture, for example, in the art of Feng Shui, in Chinese martial arts and spiritual tracts.

* Qi in Taoism – Qigong – Jing Qi Shen – Internal alchemy

* Meridian of Acupuncture – Shiatsu

Indian vitalism

* Prana, Doshas, Chakra, Kosha, Kundalini in Indian Ayurveda and Yoga

* Subtle body – the Etheric Body and Astral Body in Theosophy

Spiritual Healing

Introduction

Spiritual Healing is a subject which is of interest to both academic and medical organisations. While it has been shown to work, Hodges and Scofield suggest it involves a currently undetectable form of energy.

Ancient beliefs and practices

As noted in the section comparing Spiritualism with the Occult religion, spirits were contacted to obtain powers, but only for healing. Shamanism can be considered an early form of Spiritual Healing in that a belief in spirits was incorporated into healing practices, by people now known as ”Witch Doctors”. By the Middle Ages, healing had become associated with witchcraft, the punishment for which included burning at the stake. During the course of 600 years from approximately 1200 A.D., at least 4 million women were killed. From the 1700s onward, healing of the body, mind and spirit were considered separate practices having previously been done on a holistic basis.

Healing today

Spiritual healing is based on the belief that a healer is able to channel ”healing energy” into the person seeking help (”patient”) by different methods. This may sometimes be perceived as a feeling of heat, as noted in an article in ”The Times” newspaper about Spiritual Healing in the British National Health Service. The article also comments that, unlike faith healing, the religion of the patient or healer is not relevant. The Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine contained a discussion paper reviewing the effectiveness of spiritual healing. ”Figure 1” explained how research into the growth of cress seeds was conducted, some of which had been damaged (”stressed”) by soaking in saline solution. This showed the benefit after 5 days when healing was used on damaged seeds (”growth stage 7”) compared to those which had been damaged but not healed (”growth stage 5.5”).

Adapted from the Wikipedia article Energy (esotericism), under the G. When a friend announcing that she was going to becoming a nun (or more correctly a ‘religious’) the author decided to interview ten more young women who were making the same choice to join a range of different Christian communities ranging from enclosed contemplative communities to Franciscan communities. The interviews cover the women’s feelings about the vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience as well as describing other details of the daily life of a religious sister.

The book is included in the [http://www.cofe.anglican.org/lifeevents/ministry/workofmindiv/vrsc/ddo/ Diocesan Directors of Ordinands] recommended reading list for those exploring vocation.

The Battersea Park Road to Enlightenment

”The Battersea Park Road to Enlightenment” is an exploration of the subject of happiness. In it she tries out many of the ‘New Age’ courses available in the UK that claim to offer routes to inner peace and personal fulfilment. The book explores Insight Seminars, Tai Chi a retreat in a convent, Astrology, Tantric Sexuality, Co-Dependent’s Anonymous, Colonic Irrigation, Rebirthing-breathwork, Past Life Regression with Roger Woolger various forms of massage including Stone Massage and Kahuna Hawaiian massage, Neuro-linguistic Programming, an Anger management workshop, and a workshop on Angels with William Bloom. The book was chosen as Radio 4’s Book of the Week and Isabel performed it herself for the series. The book went on to become a bestseller in the UK and has been translated into 15 languages including Japanese and Russian.

For Tibet, with Love. A Beginner’s Guide to Changing the World

”For Tibet, with Love. A Beginner’s Guide to Changing the World” explores what one person can do to make a difference, in this case to the cultural imperialism of the Chinese Government in Tibet. The book was republished in 2005 reversing the title and subtitle so became ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Changing the World’ (which was also the title of the US edition). This second UK edition also had a different ISBN). In 2010 Bloomsbury brought out a new third edition, with a new preface under the original title. In this book Isabel travels to Lhasa explores how individuals and groups can use the media to raise awareness and influence public opinion and finally travels to Dharamsala to interview His Holiness The Dalai Lama.

Men! Where the **** Are They?

Her book ”Men!” is a humorous examination of the widely experienced sociological phenomenon of their being many more single and available women over the age of 40 in our cities than men and answers the question “Where are all the interesting and available men?” The book considers the many factors that have produced this discrepancy including an interview with Simon Baron-Cohen, which details the differences between the male and the female brain. During a tour of Ireland to promote the book, she appeared on the renowned Gerry Ryan Show (the interview lasting a whole hour). Following Ryan’s untimely death, she declared that “making Radio with Gerry was better than having sex with most men”.

The Battersea Park Road to Paradise

Her new book ”The Battersea Park Road to Paradise”, (Five Adventures in Being and Doing) explores Feng Shui, Anthony Robbins, Vipassana, Advaita and Shamanism will be published in the UK and US in 2011.

Adapted from the Wikipedia article Isabel Losada, under the G. href="/wp-content/uploads/cc/Hypnotherapy_certification5.jpg">

Reiki is a natural healing system that millions around the world are using to balance energy, remove stagnant energy, and restore peace and harmony in the body, mind, and spirit.

Since the methods were rediscovered and renamed Reiki by Dr. Usui, people in nearly every country of the world are again using “the laying-on-of-hands” method for healing the physical body in one form or the other.

Many registered nurses, as well as massage therapists are finding that Reiki is the perfect compliment to their hands-on health practice.

Reiki Helps To Create A Balanced Environment

A balanced environment within one’s being is important so that healing can take place. Healers who have been attuned to the Reiki healing “flow” find that their natural healing energies have been enhanced. They also describe their healing energies as being more powerful and directed than before. Many traditional health practitioners are adding Reiki to their credentials.

Reiki Is Transferred To Students By A Reiki Master/Teacher

The Reiki master passes the training through a series of attunements. During the attunement process, sacred healing symbols are sealed into your energy field, so that you can flow the higher vibrations of energy. The attunement process opens you up permanently to the Reiki energy so that you can give Reiki treatments to yourself and others.

When you are attuned you become an open channel (or pipe) for the Reiki energy to flow through to yourself and others. The energy gently and constantly circulates in your body filling your heart area first, and flows out from that point on through your hands. When you place your hands on an object, whether it is a person, a pet, your plants, your food, or a crystal, the healing Reiki energy flows into that object as well.

Reiki raises the vibrational frequency of the person receiving the treatment.

Sickness is low vibrational frequency.

Wellness, health and joy are higher vibrational frequencies.

Three Benefits In Learning Reiki:

1.You will not use your own energy to heal others. You will always use the Source energy. You’ll be taught how to protect your own energy and not get drained when healing others. 2.You will not take on other peoples’ problems as your own. 3.Reiki will not harm anyone. The Reiki energy is always a benefit to the recipient. The more practice you get, the more benefit there is. Just like any tool you use, it gets better and better with practice.

Reiki works well with all healing modalities traditional and alternative, such as: nursing, massage therapy, Acupressure, Acupuncturists, Bach Flower, Chakra Balancing, Chi Gong, Chi Kung, Chi Nei Tsang, Cosmic Energetic Healing, Laser Reiki, Crystal Work, Dowsers, Essential Oils, Falun Gong, Feng Shui, Flower Essences, Gemstone Therapy, Healing Touch, Body workers, Homeopathic Medicines, Hypnotherapy, Tai Chi, Vibrational Healers, Yoga, Hellerwork, and all Holistic activities.

These healers above are adding Reiki certification to their tool kit. Mothers, kindergarten teachers, and schoolteachers are also learning Reiki because it makes their jobs easier.

Taylore Vance

No related posts.

The Relevance Of Feng Shui Bookcases

Feng Shui

Feng shui bookcases

Home and family

Interior Design
<guid

It is reflected in an area of Feng Shui called the Knowledge and Self-Cultivation area. You will find that there are bookcases in any area that is separated by the main section due to the nature of this area of Feng Shui.

This area is said to represent the desire to learn more and become as a result, more being and a process of knowing more. It doesn?t matter the age of the person trying to create a relaxing environment; they must be placed strategically in accordance with specific beliefs in order to be perceived as working effectively.

Knowledge & Self-Cultivation

The very statement itself seems a bit misleading in that like the water dragon emits an immediate mental image of a horrible dragon, the bookcases statement sounds like an actual product manufactured by Feng Shui. Just as the water dragon is a myth, Feng Shui bookcases is not an actual product but it lies in the placement of objects in Knowledge & Self Cultivation. This is an area that directly pertains to

The promotion of growth for the spirit, mind, soul and body must always be studied by people. A globe should also be placed in this area as it also plays a role in knowledge and the desire to learn more about the world around you. As well as a globe, you should have pens and pencils along with paper or a journal to promote the recording of your thoughts and feelings while inspired by this areas.

Tips for Placement

These bookcases should be filled with books, as many as it can possibly hold to signify your knowledge and desire to learn more knowledge as you grow. Any good bookcase should have doors on it and if doors are absent, in order to make up for it, it is suitable to pull all the books on your bookcases so that they are flush and plumb with the shelf that they sitting on.

In your own personal little area of knowledge, it is also wise to place many plants, as plants are a very high promoter of growth as they are continually growing and flourish over and over again.

Dane Stanton

Author Bio
If you want to learn more about The Five Element system was developed in China 5,000 years ago as both a philosophical and practical approach to assessing human wellness on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. This unique classification system helps to explain patterns of behavior and how our own energy levels mirror the transformational cycles in the natural world.

By analyzing your own compatibility with the five elements?wood, fire, water, earth, and metal?you can determine excesses or deficiencies in these energies in your personality and your surroundings. One important way to do this is to choose artwork that emphasizes one or more of the five elements. Understanding the five elements and balancing them in your environment can increase your vitality.

Wood energy is constantly in motion?driven to grow and expand like the green shoots bursting forth in spring. A person with a predominantly ?wood? personality seeks new challenges and adventures. Wood personalities tend to be competitive, bold, direct and ambitious. If you desire to strengthen the qualities of wood in your personality, the most appropriate artwork would include trees, florals, and gardens.

Fire energy is characterized by its ability to give off warmth and attract others. Predominately ?fire? types place a great deal of emphasis on interpersonal relationships. They are romantic and idealistic, enthusiastic and emotional. Fire energy is the energy of life, represented by sunshine, warm-blooded animals and people. If you want to strengthen your fire energy, artwork depicting these subjects is appropriate. Artwork with strong reds and orange can also enhance fire energy.

If you tend to be overly excited and overly dependent on relationships with others, fire energy can be balanced by emphasizing the other four elements, especially water. Water has the ability to change effortlessly without losing its essential character. Water types are resourceful and single-minded, flowing over problems like a river.

Water types also have the ability to pool their resources to be in a position of strength when opportunities arise. The artwork useful for strengthening the water element depicts rivers, waterfalls or the ocean. Any design with asymmetrical, flowing shapes or curved lines can be symbolic of water. Images incorporating glass, crystals, fountains or mirrors also bring the water element into your environment.

The earth element is able to absorb excesses of the other elements. Earth personalities are forgiving and compassionate. Earth types are wonderful friends and great listeners. Earth types have an affinity for ceramics, tile, stucco, bricks and adobe. To strengthen earth energy with art, use paintings with yellow, orange and brown and depictions of meadows, deserts, fields, and farms.

The metal element is characterized by exceptional strength and endurance. People with metal as their predominant compatibility are disciplined and strong-willed. Metal types are often creative and seek to out picture the highest aspirations of life in their art. To strengthen metal energy with art, choose images that include majestic mountains?firmly grounded but reaching towards the heavens. Crystal and rocks also represent metal energy.

Balancing the five elements is a matter of emphasizing one or more elements for an intended purpose. Each of the elements support or nourish each other in some way and limit or control each other in other ways. Creating your own personal paradise in your surroundings will result in a strong foundation for increased happiness and success in all areas of your life.

Kathleen Karlsen

Author Bio
Kathleen Karlsen is a writer, artist and desing consultant. These 10 tips will get you on the right track to success and prosperity in your home business. No related posts.

By: Charles Chang

According to the US Census, about half of all business in the United States are run from the home. Since so many people are working from home at least part of the time, it makes sense to try and keep things running smoothly and harmoniously. To that end, here are some Feng Shui Tips for your home office.

You?ll need your compass for some of these tips. Placing items and rooms properly is one of the keys to proper Feng Shui.

If you are able to choose the location of your home office, the best place for it to be is in the North end of your home. The North Sector is often called the Career Sector. If that is unavailable, the Southwest corner is the Wealth Sector, the Northeast is the Skills and Talent Sector, and finally the South is the Fame and Recognition Sector. Do your best to locate your home office in one of those sectors, with the North being the most desirable, and the South being the least.

Some other general Feng Shui Tips for objects within your home office are:

1) Always sit so that there is a solid wall behind your back. This ensures you have support in your life. Never sit with your back to the window.

2) Always place the fax machine, telephone, computers, and cash registers in the southeast wealth sector to attract more prospective business.

3) Arrange your desk to have a clear view of the door, preferably facing the door. If it is impossible to arrange, hang a small mirror so that you can see the door?s reflection.

4) Never put a shelf over your desk. The shelf symbolizes the burdens of the world coming down upon you.

5) Try and keep sharp items such as paper cutters, scissors, or the sharp corner of a machine away from your desk. Make sure they are not pointing at the desk. Keep as many sharp objects as possible hidden from view in a drawer or closet. The sharp edges symbolize the cutting of a knife which is a disapproving finger pointing at you.

6) Make sure that you can walk completely around your desk so that your workmates and workload do not cramp you.

7) Avoid clutter at all times and at all costs! Do not have an ?in? or ?out? tray on your desk. Keep only on your desk what is necessary for what you are doing at the moment.

Don?t keep cactus plants in your office. The needles of the cactus plants are thought to create negative energy flow.

9) Never arrange your desk in such a way that if the door swings open it will open into your desk. This will cause you to be faced with unexpected situations. If the door jams against your desk, it can block your prosperity.

10) If there are two doors in your office, don?t place your desk between them. The good Chi will pass right by you and out the other door.

As one final Feng Shui tip for your home office, a tabletop fountain made of bamboo or flat round stones is always good in the southeast corner to increase prosperity. If your company has a sign or logo, place it in the southeast corner of the office as well. Make good use of these Feng Shui tips and may you be showered with many blessings.

Charles Chang

Author Bio
Charles Chang is a Feng Shui enthusiast and author. That question has been bothering me for quite some time now. As a consultant of Feng Shui, I encounter several couples with less than perfect marriages. My clients will quite often ask me for some sort of “secret” remedy that will magically fix what is wrong with their marriage.

So, I asked a few of my married friends for their opinion. These couples, which are over 50 years old, were chosen because of their age and the fact that they have been married for a long time The answer they gave was a surprise to me Based on experiences of both themselves and their friends, they believe that ninety percent of married couples are, in some way, dissatisfied with their relationships.

Granted that the don’t experience the happily ever after life we see in fairy tales, this is still rather sad – if this is really the truth.

Does a cure exist? Perhaps there is.

In ancient societies such as those found in China, arranged marriages were commonplace, and the horoscope was often consulted. The Ba Zi of the intended couple are checked for compatibility, before they are allowed to tie the knot.

Does this always work? While it may increase the chances, there is still a chance it won’t work. However through years of observation, they found out that if you combine it with some conditions, you can increase the chances of having a happy and lasting marriage.

While this insight is for all, it is most important for those with a background of failed marriages or relationships, to remember this.

These are a few of the conditions that apply.

In times past, a husband was always required or expected to be older than his wife. Such as this is a custom. You should not be able to break it, because it cannot be broken. having an aged wife – can oddly be the remedy. In ancient China, even if a wife is only one day older than her spouse, she would be considered the elder. However for better results, a wider age gap is preferred.

The other option for a more successful relationship is for the husband to be much older than the wife. Eight years apart meant much to ancient Chinese. In practice, 10 or 15 years older is perfectly acceptable or desired.

It would also increase the chances if there is a big disparity in the social and economic standard between the husband and the wife. Just for example the husband is a CEO of a big corporation and has been highly educated, while the wife does not near as much education and comes from a family that is poor. Can it be switched to the opposite way? It is unlikely in the old days because the husband is always the breadwinner. However, why can’t this be true when, in our modern era, many wives’ salaries are greater than their husbands’?

The earlier days the condition applies to woman’s only If she cannot be a successful first wife, it does not mean that she cannot be successful being the second or third one. In other words, you can be successful by becoming the other woman! I am not sure about being the other man though!

What if none of the above works?

The final option is to have a spouse that is of a different race or from a different culture. Indians and Chinese from two different culture. Having one raised in China and one raised in the United States would be a good example.

Our ancestors have left us with some great knowledge. So, and especially, if you are relationship challenged, give it a try. There is nothing to lose!

fongsuimy

Author Bio
Henry Fong<br

Here are a few helpful hints that will improve your day in the cube. By implementing these simple changes, you will immediately feel dramatic improvement to your work day.

The biggest Feng Shui problem with cubicles is that your back is to the entranceway. You are unable to see when people approach the doorway behind you, causing a constant unsettling environment for you. Feng Shui is about harmony of your environment, and having your back to the entranceway is a major disruption to that harmony. Fortunately, there is a ?cure?! To cure this problem when decorating work cubicles, place a mirror inside the cubical that reflects the entranceway behind you. This way, you can always see who is approaching you from behind.

Even though a cubical is a very small area, it is still an office. The rules of Feng Shui that are applied to regular sized offices (and living spaces) also apply when decorating work cubicles. For example, you should always sit facing one of your lucky directions, and never sit facing one of your deadly directions (See www.fengshuibytroy.com to calculate your directions). Also, in 2005, you absolutely do not want to sit facing west! This is where the Grand Duke resides, and facing him during 2005 can cause severe financial problems.

Follow the overall directional placement of Feng Shui when placing decorative items on your desk, or on the walls of your cubicle. Electronic items, like your computer monitor, are best placed in the West or North West. Candles and items red in color should be kept in the South. A small moving water feature can be placed in SE, E or North – just don’t put it behind you.

The most important thing to remember when decorating work cubicles is to avoid clutter! In such a small area this can be difficult, but it is still very important. A cluttered desk makes for a cluttered mind. As far as decor, keep things around you that are indicative of your business. General business pictures and decor is appropriate, as well as a few personal family items. Unless you are a photographer of swimsuit models, avoid racy photographs and things that are not related to work. Appropriately decorating work cubicles is your best bet to increase your work productivity.

Author Bio
www.greatindustrialguide.com

No related posts.
