Gibson wrote more than a hundred books on magic, psychic phenomena, true crime, mysteries, rope knots, yoga, hypnotism, and games. He served as a ghost writer for books on magic and spiritualism by Harry Houdini, Howard Thurston, Harry Blackstone, and Joseph Dunninger. Gibson also introduced the famous “Chinese linking rings” trick in America, and invented the “Nickels to Dimes” trick that is still sold in magic stores to this day. He “wrote extensively on Houdini and his escape tricks and sleight-of-hand,” and became involved after Houdini’s death with seances. Houdini was known as much for his investigations into — and exposure of — false mediums, and after his death, his wife Bess held seances for ten years in an attempt to contact the deceased magician. She then passed this role on to Gibson, who for many years helped preside over the Houdini Seances at New York’s famous Magic Towne House with such well-known magicians as Milbourne Christopher, Dorothy Dietrich, Bobby Baxter, and Dick Brooks. Before Gibson died, he passed on the responsibility to Dietrich, currently of The Houdini Museum in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Under the pen name Andy Adams, Gibson is credited with writing at least five of the twelve novels in the Biff Brewster juvenile adventure and mystery series for adolescent boys: ”Brazilian Gold Mine Mystery”, ”Mystery of the Mexican Treasure”, ”Mystery of the Ambush in India”, ”Egyptian Scarab Mystery”, and ”Mystery of the Alpine Pass”.

With his wife Litzka R. Gibson (née Gonser), he co-wrote ”The Complete Illustrated Book of the Psychic Sciences” (Doubleday, 1966), a 404-page book which explains how to practice many popular forms of divination and fortune-telling, including astrology, tasseography, graphology, and numerology. Litzka also wrote her own books on topics as diverse as palmistry, dancing, and personal hygiene, sometimes under the pen-name Leona Lehman.

After reading thousands of hands in the hand analysis (non-predictive palmistry) business, I would say the “Life Lesson” of humanity is self-esteem issues. If you doubt yourself, how are you going to trust something as subtle, fast and laser sharp as your intuition for making business decisions?

Having good self-esteem is vital to harnessing the power of your intuition in business. And here’s the catch: If women business owners ask for help from their intuition and don’t listen, their intuitive awareness may go into hibernation. If you ask and listen, but don’t ACT, then you create stagnation, procrastination and all sorts of challenges.

Here are three quick tips, learned over years of palm reading, for women business owners to build their self-esteem and deepen their confidence in their inner guidance:

Spirituality and Business Tip #1: Delete all non-essential email for one week. Answer only those emails that are personal or business related. You don’t have to unsubscribe from everything or do anything drastic. Just cut out the noise for one week. Notice your discomfort in deleting your non-essential email. (I receive hundreds of emails per day. Only 50 are business emails that need responses and by responding to those emails, I actually ADD efficiency to my life.) Notice if you feel anxious that you are going to miss something. Notice if you can’t do it this week and want to put it off to next week. Who REALLY has the answers to your life? You or a message in an electronic box?

Spirituality and Business Tip #2: Don’t do anything – and I do mean anything – that you don’t want to do. This is different from not doing something because it’s uncomfortable or because you are scared. There is a fine distinction here. If you don’t want to do something, you know it in every cell of your body. BUT you may be tempted to do it anyway in order to: avoid someone’s wrath or criticism, be pleasing, get your way, manipulate someone or get revenge. Just to name some of the many methods of self-betrayal that I see in my palmistry practice.

Spirituality and Business Tip #3: Make commitments to yourself that you can keep. As a palmistry expert, I recommend that instead of saying, “I’m going to start working out five days a week, start writing for two hours every day and start organizing all my paperwork every week,” why not commit to: “I’m going to move my body twice a week in a way that is pleasurable to me. I will write five minutes on Friday and build upon that. I will hire someone to organize my paperwork.” Many women business owners in my palm reading business have learned from this tip. By making commitments you can keep, you build your self-esteem, and hence, your faith in yourself and in your intuition in making business decisions.

I divided my ring finger into the three standard zones: upper, middle and bottom.

The middle zone of the ring finger, when it is the strongest of the three zones, represents the material aspects of creativity. These can include design in many forms (clothing, furniture, jewelry) and arts & crafts.

When the middle zone of the ring finger on either hand is the smallest of the three zones or has a “waisted” effect as my middle zone does, it means that the person is going through or went through an ugly duckling stage during their teen years.

What makes this aspect so very challenging is that the “ugly duckling” can only see their flaws, real or imagined. The lack of perceived ‘beauty’ in their own ‘physical design,’ i.e. their face and body, becomes all-consuming, crowding out other positive features, talents and skills. As a result, the “ugly” obsession often materializes externally, leaving the teenager to be ridiculed and excluded by their peers for being “ugly,” different or just plain weird.

So what is an ugly duckling in recovery to do? For me, it meant recovering from years of downplaying my physical appearance with black, baggy clothes and no makeup. In the past four years, I have found the best fabric colors, hair style, and jewelry designs to enhance my unique sensibilities.
